Instructions for Workshop Speakers

  1. Please send us your paper one week before the seminar date. Send the paper in pdf as an email attachment to pcramton@gmail.com. It will be posted on the seminar web site unless you request otherwise.
  2. We have a computer projector and computer for the display of PowerPoint or pdf slides. Please let your host know of your need. Bring your presentation on your laptop or a USB key, but also email your presentation before your arrival as a backup.
  3. Please make your own travel arrangements as soon as possible to secure the best rates (note BWI is often a better deal), but National (DCA) is a bit more convenient. Dulles (IAD) also works. Use WAS to search all the Washington airports. Amtrak is convenient for those from New York or further South on the East Coast. See Directions to the Economics Department. If you are an out-of-town speaker, you should plan to arrive at the department by noon. Typically, we will have lunch and dinner. It is possible to catch a flight back the same night if it is after 8 pm departing from National or BWI.
  4. If you need overnight accommodations, send an email to Rayburn@econ.bsos.umd.edu or call Gloria Rayburn (301.405.3266). She will arrange accommodations at either the Inn and Conference Center or a convenient hotel in Bethesda or downtown DC. We often recommend the Bethesda Hyatt, which has great access to restaurants, metro, and downtown. You can also make reservations on your own. Please ask for the University of Maryland rate.
  5. After you have made reservations, go to http://www.smartcenter.umd.edu/forms/newtravel.htm to fill out a travel form. It only takes 6 minutes to complete. Enter 000000 when asked for a FRS number. For purpose, type "IO/Micro Theory Workshop." Click yes when asked if you will be paid by the University of Maryland Foundation.
  6. When you return from your visit, send your receipts to Gloria Rayburn together with your social security number (or a photocopy of your passport if you are not from the US). Mention the IO/Micro Theory Workshop:
