If you drive to the university, you will want to park in the new Mowatt Lane
Parking Garage (see map above) and then walk up the hill.
Airport convenience: 1. Reagan National--DCA (30 minutes), 2. BWI (40
minutes), 3. Dulles--IAD (50 minutes)

From College Park Metro Station
By foot: When exiting the station, walk through tunnel
under the tracks, heading West. Continue heading West on Calvert Road. Road forks after 4
blocks, take the fork onto Hartwick. Walk several blocks to US 1 (Baltimore Ave).
Turn R on US 1, then walk a few blocks through our college town. The University entrance
will be on your L immediately after Sonic Grind. At the entrance follow the sidewalk on
the L up the hill to the L of the chapel (big white steeple). Continue up the hill past
Shoemaker Building. At the top of the hill on your R is Tydings Hall. The economics
department office is 3105; the conference room is 4105.
From Amtrak/Metro Station at New Carrollton (Amtrak train from
NYC/Princeton/Philadelphia)
(Get off the train one stop before Union Station; if it is an Acela
that does not stop at New Carrollton, then take a cab or the metro from Union
Station.)
By cab: Take East-West Highway (410) West to US 1.
Turn R on US 1, after about 1 mile you will enter College Park. Take the first University
entrance on your L. Get dropped off just above the Chapel (big white steeple). Continue up
the hill past Shoemaker Building. At the top of the hill on your R is Tydings Hall. The
economics department office is 3105; the conference room is 4105.
From Reagan National Airport or Downtown Washington
By cab (about $35): Take 14 St Bridge across the Potomac to
395 to Pennsylvania Ave to Baltimore-Washington Parkway to East-West Highway (410),
heading West (L). Turn R on US 1, after about 1 mile you will enter College Park. Take the
first University entrance on your L. Get dropped off just above the Chapel (big white
steeple). Continue up the hill past Shoemaker Building. At the top of the hill on your R is
Tydings Hall. The economics department office is 3105; the conference room is 4105.
By metro: (Take a cab if you are short on time or don't have
$4 for a fare card.) Walk from the terminal to the metro station, take the Yellow Line
toward Mt. Vernon Sq, transfer at Gallery Place to the Red Line (upstairs) toward Wheaton
(during rush hour wait for the Green line train to Greenbelt on the Red line track;
this is a direct train that operates only at rush hour; every fourth car will be a Green
line train), transfer at Fort Totten to the Green Line (downstairs) toward Greenbelt,
exit at College Park, walk to Tydings Hall, as described above (about $4, 65 min including walk).
From Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) Airport
By cab (about $55): Take Baltimore-Washington Parkway S toward
Washington. R on 495 (Beltway) toward College Park/Silver Spring. College Park exit S
(Route 1). R on 193 (University Ave). L on Adelphi. Immediate L on Campus Dr. R
on Preinkert at T. Get dropped off at gate on L (restricted lot). Walk up hill
to Tydings. It is just to L of Morrill Hall.
From Dulles Airport
By cab (about $65): Take Dulles access road S toward
Washington. Head N on 495 (Beltway) toward Rockville, Maryland. Continue on 495,
past Bethesda and Silver Spring. Exit S New Hampshire Ave. Get in L lane and
take L at second light onto Adelphi. Continue on Adelphi until just past 193
(University Blvd), make an immediate L onto Campus Dr. R on Preinkert at T. Get
dropped off at gate on L (restricted lot). Walk up hill to Tydings. It is just
to L of Morrill Hall.
