Airport convenience: 1. National (Reagan) --DCA (30
minutes), 2. BWI (40 minutes), 3. Dulles--IAD (50
minutes)
Amtrak Station: New Carrollton (20 minutes). (Travel times by
cab in parentheses. We always recommend cabs to
our speakers, since it is much more convenient than other ground
transport to College Park).
From College Park Metro Station. A

By foot: 30 minute walk. When exiting the
station, walk through tunnel under the tracks, to the West side. Head
West on Calvert Road. Walk to US 1 (a.k.a. Baltimore Ave). Turn R on
US 1, then walk a few blocks through our college town. Enter the
University at Regents Drive, on your L across the street from the
Maryland Book Exchange. At the entrance follow the sidewalk up the
hill to the L of the chapel (big white steeple). Continue up the hill
past Shoemaker Building. At the top of the hill on your R is Tydings
Hall (where the economics department is located.) Continue past
Tydings Hall to Preinkert Drive. R
on Preinkert, and walk up hill to Campus
Drive. L on Campus Drive. Continue on Campus Drive past
traffic light. Conference Center will be on R, just before campus exit
at University Blvd. and Adelphi Rd. See the map

second traffic light on Baltimore Ave. from the left of the map.

By Univ. of Maryland shuttle bus: When
exiting the station, go to the East Side. Walk to your L to the Univ.
of MD shuttle bus stop. On weekdays, buses operate every 15
minutes starting 6:45 AM and ending 7:45 PM. There is no night
or weekend service in the summer. Buses go to parking lot HH1 on
campus, across Campus Drive from Student Union. From there, walk
on Campus Drive to the Conference Center. See the map

near the middle of the map. The Conference Center is in the top right
corner of the map.
By cab: When exiting
the station, go to the East Side. In the second traffic lane there is
a taxi stand, where sometimes cabs waiting.
From Amtrak Station at New Carrollton (Amtrak train from
NYC/Princeton/Philadelphia/Richmond)
By cab: Take East-West Highway (410)
West to US 1. Turn R on US 1, after about 1 mile you will enter
College Park. Take a L on Knox Road (Bank of America will be on your
left). Follow Knox through student housing area. At end of Knox
Road, turn R at stop sign onto Guilford Rd. Go straight through
next stop sign, where Guilford becomes Mowatt Lane. At end of
Mowatt Lane, turn L onto Campus Drive. Go through traffic light.
Conference Center will be on R just before campus exit at University

From National Airport or Downtown Washington
By cab (about $30, 30 minutes depending on
traffic): Take 14 St Bridge across the Potomac to 395 to Pennsylvania
Ave to Baltimore-Washington Parkway to East-West Highway (410),
heading West (L). Turn R on US 1 (a.k.a. Baltimore Ave.), after about
1 mile you will enter College Park. Take a L on Knox Road (Bank
of America will be on your left). Follow Knox through student
housing area. At end of Knox Road, turn R at stop sign onto Guilford
Rd. Go straight through next stop sign, where Guilford becomes
Mowatt Lane. At end of Mowatt Lane, turn L onto Campus Drive.
Go through traffic light. Conference Center will be on R just
before campus exit at University Blvd. and Adelphi Rd. See the map

By metro: ($2.80 peak, $2.10 off-peak,
rail-time 42 minutes, 70 min total including walk). Walk from the
terminal to the metro station, take the Yellow Line toward
Archive-Navy Memorial and transfer to the Green Line toward Greenbelt,
exit at College Park, walk to Conference Center (or take a cab), as
described above.

From Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) Airport
By cab (about $45, 30-45 minutes depending
on traffic): Take Baltimore-Washington Parkway S toward Washington DC.
R on 495 (Beltway) toward College Park/Silver Spring. College Park
exit S (Route 1). R on 193 (University Ave). L on Adelphi. Immediate L
on Campus Dr. Conference Center will be on your immediate L. See the map

Center is in the top right corner of the map, at corner of Campus
Drive, University Blvd., and Adelphi Road.

From Dulles Airport
By cab (about $55; 50 minutes depending on
traffic): Take Dulles access road S toward Washington. Head N on 495
(Beltway) toward Rockville, Maryland. Continue on 495, past Bethesda
and Silver Spring. Exit S New Hampshire Ave. Get in L lane and take L
at second light onto Adelphi. Continue on Adelphi until just past 193
(University Blvd), make an immediate L onto Campus Dr. Conference
Center will be on your immediate L. See the map

Other ground transportation: A Washington
Flyer Express Bus connects to the West Falls Church Orange Line
Metrorail station. The transfer bus runs every 30 minutes from 5:30
a.m. to midnight weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. weekends. Fare: $8. You
can take the Metro to College Park Station or other locations. For
College Park, transfer to Green Line at Gallery Place/Chinatown then
see directions above. Fare $3.25 peak, $2.10, rail time 52 minutes,
totaling an additional 80 minutes approx., including walk, to get to
Conference Center. A

Flyer Express Bus also provides service between Dulles and the
Downtown Airports Terminal (located at the Washington Convention
Center - at the intersection of New York Ave.), with courtesy shuttle
service to the city's most popular hotels and to Union Station
